Bali Visa Extension for Russians: Extend Your Stay in 2027

Planning to stay longer than your original visa allows? This guide covers all the visa extension options available to Russian citizens in Bali in 2027 — from extending a Visa on Arrival to converting a tourist visa into a longer-stay permit.

Can Russians Extend Their Bali Visa?

Yes — most visa types available to Russian citizens in Bali can be extended or converted to allow longer stays. The process and requirements depend on which visa you originally entered on.

Extending the Visa on Arrival (VoA / e-VoA)

The standard Bali Visa on Arrival grants 30 days of stay. It can be extended once only, for an additional 30 days, giving a maximum of 60 days total.

  • Extension fee: IDR 500,000 (same as the original VoA fee)
  • Where to extend: Local immigration office (Kantor Imigrasi), or through an authorised agent
  • When to apply: The extension application must be submitted before the current visa expires. We recommend applying at least 7 days before expiry.
  • Documents needed: Passport, completed IM-17 form, passport photograph, proof of onward travel or accommodation

After 60 days, you cannot extend the VoA further. You must either depart Indonesia or convert to a different visa type.

Extending the B211A Tourist Visa

The B211A tourist visa starts at 60 days and can be extended in 30-day increments, up to a maximum of 180 days total.

  • Extension cost: IDR 500,000 per 30-day extension
  • Number of extensions: Up to 4 extensions (60 + 4×30 = 180 days)
  • Process: Submit extension applications at the immigration office before expiry of the current permission
  • Sponsored extensions: Some extensions require a visa agent or sponsor; our team manages this

Visa Conversion: Upgrading to a Longer Stay

If 180 days is not enough, or you decide to stay permanently, your tourist visa can be converted to a KITAS (Temporary Stay Permit) under the right circumstances. Common conversion pathways include:

  • Conversion to Business/Investor KITAS if you establish a PT PMA company
  • Conversion to Retirement KITAS (Lansia) if you are 55+ and meet income requirements
  • Conversion to Spousal KITAS if married to an Indonesian citizen
  • Application for Second Home Visa (E33G) if you meet financial requirements

Note: Conversion is not always possible in-country and may require a visa run (exiting and re-entering Indonesia). Our team advises on the optimal path based on your situation.

Overstay Penalties for Russians

Overstaying a Bali visa is a serious offence. Current penalties under Indonesian immigration law:

  • Fine: IDR 1,000,000 per day of overstay (approximately USD 62/day)
  • Maximum fine before deportation: IDR 60,000,000 (60 days of overstay)
  • Deportation: After 60 days of overstay, mandatory deportation and potential entry ban
  • Entry ban: Overstay of 60+ days may result in a multi-year re-entry ban

Do not overstay. Contact us immediately if you are at risk of overstaying — we can often arrange emergency extensions or departures to prevent penalties.
